What Printer Service Providers Need from the Cloud
Consumers want anytime, anywhere access to their information. Google, Dropbox, and Kindle deliver on this premise. These services are not thought of, much less marketed, as “cloud” based software. No where in their documentation will you hear SaaS, mutlitenet, load-balanced, scalable, and so on. On the contrary, Dropbox describes their services as letting you “bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere.” Simple.
We are just starting to see cloud based solutions for the graphic arts industry. Whether customers line-up in droves will not only depend upon the application but even more on how it is marketed. Customers simply want to know that it is reliable, always on, secure, and available on any device.
