You Didn’t Build That Used At The RNC
Naturally, the Republican Party has taken advantage of this gaffe for their benefit. Mitt Romney and co. have become meme devotees, using “You didn’t build that!” to show Obama’s feelings toward such business giants as Henry Ford and Steve Jobs. Rumor is that the Republican National Convention was going to take it one step further and champion the slogan, “We built this,” to show their apparent solidarity with business owners.
However, that idea was quickly scratched when it was found out that the building in which they were going to hold the Republican National Convention was constructed with $86 million in US government dollars. Clever memes aside, does the Republican Party have a point? Or just a punchline? Most politicians utter something that they soon wish they could take back, and President Obama is no exception.
