Direct-to-Garment Negatives
Although Direct-to-Garment printing has many advantages, as with everything, there are negative aspects to the process that don’t allow it to suit the needs of every order and at Garment Printing we like to see your artwork and provide you with expert advice on the best options. First and foremost, DTG printing is optimal for smaller orders. Secondly, production times can be slower if compared to screen printing after the press is set-up; again the turn-around time is directly relevant to order size. Third, for artwork that utilizes only one or two colors and exceeds the amount of three to four dozen, screen printing takes the lead on DTG printing; Direct-to-Garment printing is best suited for complex artwork and full-color graphic imagery. Lastly, DTG printing allows for accurate color matching and printing profiles can be modified to allow for proper color management. But remember to note, what you see on screen will inevitably vary from the final out put of ink onto garments as cotton and fabrics cannot give the same finish and contrast as paper or a computer screen.
