Package printing offers opportunities beyond the label in Latin America

Label Summit Latin America 2012, part of the Labelexpo Global series, will include a specific focus on package printing as a means for label converters in the region to branch out into new areas.

The dedicated package printing stream will address opportunities, and provide practical advice and guidance to attendees at the conference and networking event. Three presentations will be made, with Alfonso Paredes, Sun Chemical’s vice president of marketing and also the director of narrow web products for the company in Latin America, talking about UV flexo for food packaging; and Hans Ramón Hofmann, sales director in northern Latin America for Gallus, speaking on printing solutions for the packaging industry. A stream keynote will look at adapting production for short runs, personalizing product promotions and new application examples.

'The Latin American market is continuing to demonstrate strong growth and with more converters looking at opportunities beyond the label such as at cartons and flexible packaging'

Label Summit Latin America 2012 is set to take place in Mexico on April 17-18 and for the first time will be held at the Hilton Guadalajara.

Package printing will also feature in other presentations made during the two-day event. The full event program can be found here.

A table-top exhibition will run alongside the conference, with over 60 international and local suppliers attending. Exhibitors include Durst Image Technology, HP, Label Traxx, RotoMetrics, UPM Raflatac and Xeikon.

Roger Pellow (pictured, top speaking at Label Summit Latin America 2011), Labelexpo managing director, said: ‘We’re extremely excited about returning to Mexico and to be bringing this world leading summit to Guadalajara. The Latin American market is continuing to demonstrate strong growth and with more converters looking at opportunities beyond the label such as at cartons and flexible packaging, this year’s summit promises to share effective ways of growing business opportunities and boosting profits.

‘A must-attend event for anyone in the label and product decorating sectors, Label Summit Latin America will also showcase new innovations and tackle the key issues facing the industry.’
