Various Types of Clothing Labels

A label is type of tag using to transfers information to consumers, mainly it is a piece of paper, metal or any card which is attached to a product. Clothing labels are attached to the material with the help of some sort of adhesive, or can be printed, woven or embroidered with cotton or polyester threads on the edge of textile material. Some labels are temporary with easy removed after first washing which some labels are permanent that could remain longer time such as printing text on selvedge of materials. Label is the main source for communicating with consumers. Which brings the general information related to care instructions, name, address or fiber content of company and brand for consumers. Label is tangible and visible form of reminding to the customers due to its help to attain the contentment in people's mind.

Federal Trade Commission (FTC) rules the the clothing labels must contains certain information to consumers. The Textile and Wool Acts require that labels contain three pieces of information pertaining to the garment: fiber content, country of origin, and manufacturer, importer or dealer. The Care Labeling Rule requires that care instructions for the garment also be revealed.

Labels are attached at different location of the clothing or garments like at the back of neck, side seam, or written over the selvedge of fabric or printed onto the package of the product or near the cuff area. Labels shows some important information to customers. Mostly its for telling customer the card paper is used with the cheapest method or some manufacturers use leather or metal labels for high quality brand. Actually labels should be resistant to abrasion, washing, dry cleaning, pressing or any stresses to give durable and long lasting benefits and results. Labels should be durable until it reaches the end consumer. In the meanwhile, the symbols or necessary information on labels all must make sure consumer could read and understand.
