VA County Endorses Remans

According to The Recycler and Fairfax News, the Fairfax County Council has recently published a list of green purchasing tips for their readers and local businesses.  Among the ideas listed is to use remanufactured cartridges.

As our readers know, using remanufactured cartridges can not only help the environment, but it can also help save money.  The Fairfax County Council estimates that by making the decision to switch to non-OEM cartridges, they have realized annual savings of about $200,000.

Additionally, the council urges residents and businesses to look into companies that you plan on purchasing items from and follow eco-labels to make sure they offer the type of environmental benefit you and your company want.  Lastly, readers are encouraged to try and limit the volume of pages printed and print only what you know you will need.  The Council also switched 30% of their paper to recycled copier paper which will help protect as many as 2,700 trees each year.
