Atlas Die praised for safety, health

Atlas Die, a manufacturer of laser cut steel rule die technology and other diecutting products, was recognized by the Indiana Department of Labor's INSafe program for workplace safety. The company was awarded INSHARP (Indiana Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program) certification.

In an article in The Elkhart Truth, INSafe Director Michelle Ellison says, "Atlas is more than 50 percent below the national average with respect to worker illness and injury. Essentially, [this certification] program is our small business exemplary safety and health award. It's a pretty significant achievement."

The company's facilities (in Illinois, Virginia, Massachusettes, North Carolina and Georgia) have nearly 20 years of combined injury-free days. Atlas Die president Ken Smott told the paper that the company spent two years working to improve health and safety. "The pioneering spirit here in Elkhart remains alive and well," Smott said.
