Wacker to Raise Prices for Dispersible Polymer Powders

Wacker Polymers is to raise its prices for dispersible polymer powders globally, as well as for dispersions and polyvinyl alcohol solutions in Europe. Effective June 1, 2012, prices for vinyl acetate-, vinyl chloride- and acrylic-based dispersible polymer powders of the Vinnapas brand will be increased globally by up to seven percent, or as customer contracts allow. In Europe, prices for Vinnapas and Vinnol vinyl acetate- and acrylate-based dispersions will be raised, as well as for Vinnacoat and Polyviol polyvinyl alcohol solutions. Coming into effect June 1, 2012, prices will be increased by up to ten percent, or as otherwise allowed by individual contract terms.

‘The price adjustments will enable Wacker Polymers to continue providing reliable supply and constantly high product quality, and to boost the development of innovative product and process technologies for the benefit of customers,’ said the company in a statement. ‘Despite on-going cost optimizing measures and productivity improvements, the current strong increase in raw materials, energy and transport costs makes this step inevitable.’ Vinnapas dispersible polymer powders are used mainly in diverse construction chemical applications. Polymer dispersions of the Vinnapas and Vinnol brand are applied in a broad variety of industries, ranging from adhesives, nonwovens, paints and coatings to paper, carpet and textiles. Vinnacoat and Polyviol polyvinyl alcohol solutions are mainly used in the paper and printing industry.
