Bangladesh Now Makes High-end Wear

Bangladesh is fast becoming an important destination for overseas companies s ourcing premium quality formal suits, including formal jackets and trousers for men and women. According to experts, China losing its competitiveness due to the shortage of workers in garment sector coupled with high cost of production is the main reason behind the shift in orders to Bangladesh.

In addition to shifting their orders from China to Bangladesh, foreign brands are also investing in joint ventures in Bangladesh to make the suits. Ananta Group, a leading garment manufacturer in Bangladesh, has entered into a joint venture partnership with a Romanian company to tailor suits, which were earlier not a part of its product portfolio. Asif Zahir, director of Ananta Group, said, “Foreign companies are shifting their orders for high-end formal suits from China to Bangladesh, mainly owing to cost factors.” “Taking this as an opportunity, we are setting up a new unit in Adamjee Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in joint venture with a Romanian company. The new unit will exclusively manufacture suits,” he informs.
